On day four of LFW I had the pleasure of attending the Jacob Birge runway show at Soho Screening Rooms on behalf of Zalando

The collection focused on technology with a sci-fi feel and was based on the changes within a human's life. Jacob believes that although life has it's ups and downs it is always at a constant equilibrium from afar and with these balancing opposites he forms a woman's overall look, creating a contemporary silhouette. From this he created a unique collection where the solidity of the tailoring combined with the the softness of the materials gave the collection a sense of equilibrium. Black, dark red and blue was the colour pallete on materials such as carbon fibres, nylon and spandex.

What made this show different from others was the way in which it was presented. We viewed the runway show via a digital projection with live music performance and then once complete all guests had a chance to touch and feel each piece and even try on. He also took out time to answer questions from the press which really made the entire experience more personal and interactive.

As a recent graduate (finishing only 5 months ago) from Edinburgh and new to the fashion world, it was fascinating to see how he used science and music to generate the shapes of the garments whether vertical or horizontal.

Thanks again to Zalando for allowing me to view this collection from such a talented guy...I expect major things for him in the coming years. You can view their website here and if you live in a country as cold as the UK at the mo, check out this cutesie sweater!

Also you can view the lookbook here. What is your favourite piece?

Last week I was invited to sit "frow" at the super cool and laid back Cafe 1001 in Brick Lane to attend the May Daze Clothing Curiosity Shop Fashion Show and after party.

This show intrigued me as it showcased collections from local independent designers who sell in the surrounding boutiques, websites and ASOS marketplace. Even the hairstylists were local and with Mac makeup artists doing all the make up, the models looked uber sexy. Some of the designers that took part included Aimee Du, Artisan S, Bill and Mar, Dolly Dare London Loves LA, Raphael Roggendorf and Twinne, and it was amazing to see just where their inspiration came from.

The night started off with a cool folk band Freddie and the Hoares playing a set and then the show started. I didn't manage to take great pictures as it was quite dark but I did get to capture a few of the pieces.

My favourite look was most definitely the Dolly Dare collection and mix of rockabilly and tutu's! Aimee Du took us back in time with digital prints, embroidery and lace, and London Loves LA showed us just what a 90s teenage runaway encompassed. Some of the designers described London as being adventurous, a big party, a mix of eras and I have to agree after viewing this show London is definitely one of the most fashionable and versatile cities in the world.

Thanks to Melissa and Sophie for the invite and all the organisers that put the show together, I look forward to the next curiosity shop ;)
