Ashish

As usual the king of sequins remained loyal to his fans with a show packed full of.... yes sequins along with python prints, rainbow stripes and tinselled hair! But one thing everyone noticed while watching the show was the all back model line up including America's Next Top Model contestant Chantelle Brown-Young. The designer definitely made a strong statement about the continued dominance of white faces despite model diversity being an ongoing convo in the fashion world. Track pants, bombers and denim were given the Ashish sparkle and super cute pink fluffy shoes added to the mix (coming to Topshop stores Feb 2015). Pop culture influence from celebs such as Kimye and Miley were encrusted onto sweaters. At the end of the show I met US rapper EVE wearing a red Ashish bomber who was more than happy to take a picture.

Burberry Prorsum

On the fourth day of LFW my first show of the day was Burberry. The flagship store on Bond Street held a small gathering to streamline the "Birds and the Bees" themed collection as it was happening. The talented Christopher Bailey always has a knack for forecasting trends each season which all the high street retailers follow and so everyone was interested to see what he had up his sleeve. The entire show was an explosion of colour. Tulle dresses were juxtaposed against denim jackets, all combined with candy floss fur bombers and sheer concertina pleats. Footwear consisted of sandals and sneakers so take note as I'm sure next season these will be continue to adorn every fashionista's feet around the world. The finale came in an array of models wearing the colourful trench coats immaculately belted with tulle at the waist. And to complete the experience all of this was set against the vocals of British musician James Bay. Once again another strong and powerful collection!

Huishan Zhang

Now this was my type of show! Set in the dining room of the Rosewood London Hotel guests were served afternoon tea with delicious cakes and glasses of champagne. The collection was literally breath taking!  Relaxed elegance was mixed with fun elements through details of feathers, ethereal fabrics and embellishment. My highlight was the head to toe feather ensemble above which was a major statement in itself. The colour palette was kept neutral with black accents and there were a number of beautifully crafted midi skirts, all of which I would be honoured to have hanging in my closet!

Palmer Harding

On day 3 my first show was the fabulous Palmer Harding. I was invited by the wonderful team at Ultimate Ears, and what a pleasure it was.  Upon arrival at Lincoln's Inn we were escorted into a 17th century chapel with the most divine architecture, the perfect backdrop for a breath taking collection. All guest sat frow which meant everyone present was made to feel VIP. The collection was predominantly a white and nude palette with splashes of hot pink and yellow. Each design had an uneven element allowing the fabric to drape effortlessly down the catwalk, moving as a feather would in the breeze. Burnout effect details over layers of soft magnolia, cornflower blue and  primrose yellow added texture to chiffon and lace. Hair and nails were kept simple and the looks were completed with chain effect slippers and Ultimate Ears 360ยบ sound speakers. A truly amazing show!

Topshop Unique

How excited I was to be attending the Topshop show for the first time! The atmosphere was amazing and the frow was packed full of all the IT girls including Anna Wintour, Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung. The theme was tennis girl meets college student meets seaside prom in true Brit youth style. Clean lines of athletic stripes, floppy skirts and accents of burgundy, black and red set against bowling bags were amongst the first looks to emerge. The entire show had a care free feel with fabric pleated details and bold prints. A collection that us mere mortals can actually afford, only problem is that we now have to wait until SS15!

Sweater: Topshop, Blouse: lts, Skirt: Topshop (last seen here), Shoes: LK Bennett (love these)
Bag: Mulberry, Sunglasses: Kite, Necklace: Ily Couture, Bracelets: Annie Haak, J Crew

One of my fave colours this season seems to be grey, and what better way to work it than tonal head to toe. Styling this spotted midi skirt and crop sweater (available in other colours) kept my look chic, yet relaxed for day 2. Made from scuba this skirt has a life of its own in the volume front...there's nothing better than a midi that stays true to it's form. Adding red accents from my handbag and lipstick gave the right amount of pop required and literally got so much attention on the day!

How do you like to style your midi skirts?

Orla Kiely

This season Orla Kiely brought us a show full of flower power in true 60's form...and as usual was a delightful presentation. As you all know this is one of my fave eras so of course Orla is always one I look forward to as she never disappoints and always draws her audience in. The back drop was a glass screen with three women stood behind it in overalls painting petals on the glass. The models entered one by one carrying oversized flowers walking between plant pots then placing the flower into one. The collection was a mix of structured coats and relaxed shorts and dresses accessorised with floral appliquรฉ bags and shoes courtesy of Orla x Clarks AW14. Thus the plantation of new looks for SS15 was a dream!

Whistles

Under King's Cross station inside a narrow tunnel is where the Whistles runway show took place...so cool! This season the collection was all about textures and fabrics combining monochrome tailoring, laser-cut leathers, raffia crop tops and holographic hues with a sports wear vibe. Bum bags were worn actually on the bum and footwear came in the form of chunky espadrilles. All very much ready to wear ensembles... bring on SS15!

Bora Aksu

Finally my highlights from day 1 at LFW! I have been extremely busy but I still wanted to show you my favourite shows! First up was Bora Aksu which was full of fairytale delicate light fabrics with sheer layers and an edited use of crochet. A colour palette of white, nude and navy blue dominated the collection infused with appliquรฉ and cutout details. The models entered the runway and in non traditional form sat in a group at the head of the runway then one by one they executed and elegantly glided down the catwalk to be captured by the awaiting photographers. Bora debuted his first ever eyewear collection designed by Tom Davies which complimented the light palette, embellished with dragonflies they symbolised the transformative nature of beauty.

Eudon Choi

For SS15 Eudon Choi stepped away from the 60's nod (last season) and opted for a more ready to wear but still eye catching collection. As usual Choi kept to his mastered talent of combining masculine shapes and feminine prints whilst providing effortless style. Taking inspiration from artist Geogia O'Keeffe's personal style he described his collection as a "homage to the beauty and power of simplicity" which was definitely reflected in the show. Features of black on black tailoring against punches of floral and white panels was he main theme. My favourite look, a yellow and cobalt jacquard structured blazer worn over a sleeveless tuxedo and cigarette trousers was flawless and avoided being frumpy though well cut lines and attention to proportion. Some pieces had a little too much prairie inspired looks with lace and ruffles unusually like Choi. However on the whole a great collection with reworked trench coats and overally chic.

Fyodor Golan

Each season, this design duo is the one I always look forward to viewing. Always full of super bright colours and sheen, Fyodor Golan didn't disappoint. From the location at Waterloo Vaults hidden under a graffitied bridge, I knew we would be in for a treat!
Celebrating digital romanticism through ready to wear pieces free from restraints, the duo infused 90's rave culture influence of acid colours and plastic textures. The largest of midi dresses with embellished iridescent and neon plastic motifs were worn with sky high platform heels whilst distorted images of flowers and footballers adorned the line creating screen like images that showcased digital reality. I absolutely loved this collection and could only dream of wearing that yellow midi dress!

Paul Costelloe

After the Fyodor Golan show I jumped in a taxi and headed straight to Paul Costelloe just in time for the presentation. This collection was incredible, full of cocoon silhouettes, jacquard prints and 60's smock dresses paired with unstructured beehives to match. The playful addition of cute socks and chunky platform ankle boots really took the look into modern day. The Dublin born designer kept to his signature style of elegance with a luxurious yet playful feel.... utterly divine!

Blouse: Asos (last worn here), Denim trousers: Whistles, Bag: LK Bennett, Shoes: LK Bennett
Scarf: Landsend, Necklace: Very, Hat: Laird, Sunglasses: Vintage, Rings: Topshop

This was my outfit for day 1 of LFW which started off with these stunning denim wide leg trousers. I purchased them a week before fashion week and instantly fell in love after seeing the sales assistant wearing hers. That paper waist bag effect was what did it...so chic! The fit is just perfect and the supple denim allows them to literally move with you. Also the hem is quite long so there is enough material to drop down or take up in length. I opted to wear these beauties turned up creating a 70's feel, and added a ruffle blouse and grid print shoe and bag combo from LK Bennett.  Topped off with a red fedora (new addition to my closet) and printed scarf...I was ready to hit Somerset house for a day of shows!

London Fashion Week was all about the designers showcasing their collections but there was one brand that was set on showing what our high street has to offer and that brand was M&S. Marks & Spencer debuted their AW14 range at LFW for the first time by celebrating their Best of British design, craftsmanship and creativity, supporting home-grown talent and expertise. Added to this their collection of snugly knitwear, awesome coats in herringbone and checks, and a coveted jacquard floral printed suit, it really is a lust worthy collection.

Continuing to stick to their promise of using high quality fabrics made only in Britain, the brand ensures this home grown design is upheld by using skilled craftsmanship, fine detailing and premium fabrics. The collection consists of key investment classic pieces with a modern twist fusing heritage sensibility with a contemporary aesthetic to take you through the winter months.

The 54-piece collection includes outerwear manufactured in Manchester, knitwear from Scotland and footwear from Northamptonshire, with prices ranging from £19.50 for a leather cuff to £349 for a wool coat, all available from August. Continuing with the British homage even the colours of soft red, white and royal blue set the main palette, with the latter colour again proving to be a hit for AW14. All in all a bold, strong collection filled with superior attention to detail....I for one am definitely looking forward to this hitting stores. Once again M&S champions great British style!

Coat: River Island, Blouse: Topshop, Skirt: Topshop, Bag: Zara, Shoes: LK Bennett, Cuff: Coast Necklace: Ily Couture, Brooch: Chanel, Fur stole: Oliver Bonas (similar)

With chceks continuing to be a popular trend for SS14, this skirt was the perfect choice for day one of LFW. I had this skirt sitting in my closet for a while and wanted to give it a spin by pairing it with this spotted blouse contrasting the prints. As I had quite a few shows to go, to my obvious choice of footwear had to be flats and these beauties from LK Bennett I am literally in love with...super comfy, high shine silver and ladylike chic...the perfect combo!
