It was so inspiring to get an idea of how scarves and their prints are used and how Nicky's scarves, handkercheifs and other vintage pieces are sold to designers including Marni, Stella McCartney, and Chanel. We found out that Chanel's current ice blue trend was taken from one of Nicky's pieces, she is one seriously talented lady!
With the current obsession of scarves booming, this collection was sure to be a hit. The Oasis team chose designs in Nicky's book that they then reworked on a larger scale to create modern silk seperates. My favourite piece of the collection has to be these gorgeous floral pants below, great shape and length, I am already visualising the many ways I can wear them. I was simply wowed by the quality and fabric and close up you could really see the detail and work of the production process.
We discussed the way designers seek out that iconic piece used to generate trends and what they go for when purchasing vintage, history or artwork...I personally go for the artwork but how cool would it be to know who wore that dress you bought and wear they wore it!!!
In recent years Oasis has not always been my first choice but I popped into their Argyll St store yesterday and I have to say they have really upped their game. The colours and designs are beautiful, I literally found so many pieces I wanted to try but resisted temptation.
On leaving the event we all received goody bags which included a luscious silk scarf, a sequinned bracelet, nail art stickers and a 25% discount card which of course HAS to go to good use, so Oasis...I will be visiting you soon!
It was lovely to meet some new bloggers, thanks to Oasis for the invite and to Jessica, Melissa and Aisling for making it a fab evening x
